Cardiopulmonary Occlusions
A collection of nine short stories and two essays exploring queer identity, grief, memory, longing, ambition, and the ways we remake ourselves through periods of change.
Completed as my MFA thesis at Northwestern University, the collection follows characters confronting the distance between the lives they imagined and the lives they have built.
About the Collection
There are moments in life when something essential becomes blocked. Grief settles in the chest like a clot, constricting the flow of oxygen. Cardiopulmonary Occlusions traces the gradual loosening of those blockages. Across nine short stories and two personal essays, the collection considers grief not as an endpoint, but as a passage and a catalyst for rediscovering what matters.
The people in these pieces are connected by more than their identities as gay men. They share an attachment to Chicago and the Midwest, and they carry losses that continue to shape the lives around them. They grieve lovers, mothers, friends, former selves, and imagined futures. But these stories are not only about loss. They are about the moment something breaks open: a breath taken, a pulse returning, the first evidence of movement after a long period of stasis.
Each piece reaches toward the moment when blood begins to move again and toward the exquisite relief of forgiveness, acceptance, or understanding. What remains is not resolution, but motion. Vulnerability. The possibility of joy.

INDEPENDENT PUBLICATION
In Search of Lost Time
In Search of Lost Time is an independent publication exploring memory, attention, identity, and the challenge of living deliberately in an increasingly digital world.
Borrowing its name from Marcel Proust’s novel, the publication begins from the belief that attention is not passive. It is how we decide what becomes meaningful. Through essays about art, technology, culture, travel, and everyday experience, I look for the moments that interrupt routine and return us to ourselves.

REFLECTIVE SYSTEM
Quantum Oracle
Quantum Oracle is a reflective system built from symbolic cards, scientific ideas, and AI-guided inquiry. It is not designed to predict the future. Like older oracles, it offers mysteries rather than answers: prompts that help us observe patterns, question assumptions, and pay closer attention to what is already moving through our lives.
The experience combines an original card system, multiple reading modes, guided interpretation, and a private space for reflection. Each element is designed to support observation, insight, and intention without telling the user what to believe or what to do next.
