This policy explains what personal information the Ryan O. Rivera author website (ryanorivera.com) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is operated by Riversmythe LLC, a New York limited liability company (“Riversmythe,” “we,” “us”) on behalf of author Ryan O. Rivera.
Information we collect
- Messages. This site has no accounts. If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can reply.
- Cookie and device data, only with your consent. If you accept optional cookies, our analytics and advertising tools collect your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location, the pages you view and the site you came from. See “Cookies, analytics and advertising” below.
- Hosting records. Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and reliability.
How we use information
To respond to messages, to understand which pages and writing people find useful, to measure and improve our advertising, and to keep the site secure.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use a consent tool (Complianz). When you first visit, a banner asks whether to allow optional cookies. Optional statistics and marketing tools are not loaded until you accept them. You can accept all, deny, or choose categories, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Manage consent” button on the site or on our Cookie Policy page.
- Necessary and functional. These remember your cookie choice and keep the site working and secure.
- Statistics: Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC). Counts visits and shows which pages are read, using your IP address (anonymized), device, browser and approximate location. We have turned off Google’s use of this data for its own products and services. Loads only if you accept statistics cookies.
- Marketing: Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.). Records page views along with your IP address, browser and cookie identifiers so we can measure our ads and show our work to people who have visited our sites. We use one Meta Pixel across our sites (insearchoflosttime.space, ryanorivera.com, riversmythe.com and vektorsion.com), so Meta may connect visits across them. Loads only if you accept marketing cookies. See Meta’s privacy policy.
Separately, this site uses Jetpack from Automattic for visit statistics and to deliver some images. Those services may process your IP address and browser details to do so.
Do not sell or share my personal information
We do not sell your personal information for money. Under California and similar state laws, allowing the Meta Pixel can count as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. That happens only if you accept marketing cookies. To opt out, choose “Deny” or turn off marketing in “Manage consent,” or email privacy@ryanorivera.com. You can also limit tracking in your browser settings.
Who we share information with
Only service providers that help run the site and our marketing, including our web host (Bluehost), Google, Meta, Automattic and email providers, and when required by law. We do not sell personal information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including California, New York and the EU/UK), you may ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop sharing it for advertising, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Email privacy@ryanorivera.com and we will respond within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Retention
We keep messages as long as needed to respond and for reasonable business records. Google and Meta keep analytics and advertising data under their own retention settings.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date.
